NHRA’s Northwest Division has announced that the 2026 John Scotti Canadian Championship will continue with a six-race series in Western Canada. The events will be held during the Canadian National Opens at Mission Raceway Park (May 30-31), M.H.D.R.A Dragstrip (July 4-5), and Rad Torque Raceway (July 11-12). Each weekend will contain two separate events.
Racers will compete for championships in nine categories: Top Comp (eighth-mile, 5.30 max dial), Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Stock/Super Stock Combo, Sportsman Motorcycle, Junior Thunder, and Junior Lightning. Racers will claim their best five out of six events towards their point totals. New for 2027 is the exciting Pro Extreme Motorcycle category. They'll compete in 3 elimination days (one at each track) with all three events counting towards thier point total. Champions will be celebrated with Wallys and jackets during the Northwest Division banquet in January 2027.
The John Scotti Canadian Championship Series launched in 2024 with a successful 12-race series in Eastern Canada with events across Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.
“With all the success in Eastern Canada, we are looking forward to continuing the series in our division and pushing it forward,” said Northwest Division Director Mike Eames. “Racers want more opportunities to win championships, and this gives them just that.”
"We are proud to continue the John Scotti Championship in Western Canada,” said John Scotti. “Racers from coast to coast can now compete in our own ‘Made in Canada’ series.”
The inagural series champions were Cody Baker (Top Comp), Charance Bidniak (Stock/SS Combo), Rory Moser (Super Gas), Gerry Brown (Super Street), Stephen Campbell (Sportsman MC), Paxton Frey (Jr Thunder), and Cole Caron (Jr Lightning)
